WordCrafts Theatrical Press announced the release of a sparkling new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Sense and Sensibility, by popular American playwright, Paula K. Parker. Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility is the second of Austen’s novels that Ms. Parker has adapted for the stage. She previously adapted Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, which is also available through WordCrafts Theatrical Press.

Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility follows the exploits of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, two young ladies with distinctly different ideas about the propriety of love. Elinor is temperate and rational, while Marianne is impetuous and fueled by youthful passion.

Although cast from their childhood home by the whims of fate, both sisters still manage to attract suitors. Elinor’s quiet beauty attracts the attention of the equally reserved Edward Ferrars, while Marianne’s impulsive zest for life draws the eyes of both the heroic Colonel Brandon and the charming but roguish John Willoughby.

But there are numerous obstacles on the road to romance in Ms. Parker’s faithful stage adaptation of Austen’s novel.

Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility is available for production by either amateur or professional theatres. For more information or to request production rights, visit WordCrafts Theatrical Press.
