Like many people, I a big fan of Jane Austen’s books, and have adapted Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and Emma into stage plays. Since their release, my stage adaptations have been produced across the U.S. as well as internationally, including several productions by the New Era Players in the United Kingdom
Next month, the New Era Players will produce my stage adaptation Jane Austen’s EMMA. Their post on social media announced:
“Exciting News! The New Era Players are thrilled to present a sparkling adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, ‘Emma,’ adapted by Paula K. Parker. Join us for a comedic journey through the pitfalls of matchmaking in Regency England, led by the charming, if somewhat misguided, Emma Woodhouse.
Mark your calendars: 14th-16th & 18th-19th & 21st-23rd March 2024 at the New Era Theatre, Newbury.
Tickets now available at ticketsource.co.uk/new-era-players
Don’t miss this witty exploration of love, friendship, and social standings that promises to be as amusing as it is insightful.”
Several years ago, when I first announced the New Era Players were producing my stage adaption Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, one of my friends commented, “Maybe they will get the accent right.”
I am quite sure they do!
